To celebrate the Sunderland factory, the automatic giant has decided to create a 100% electric car of its legendary model.
Car manufacturers often and willingly create models made specifically to celebrate certain anniversaries and remember how historic they are in the automotive world.
The Japanese giant has decided to celebrate its 35th anniversary at the Sunderland plant with the conversion of the first car to roll off the production lines in 1986.
We are talking about Bluebird which has been renamed Newbird. This is a unique model engine equipped with a 100% electric motor and the same as the Nissan Leaf. In a single car there is therefore the history of Nissan inside the Sunderland plant with the future and the long-term project Ambition 2030.
Obviously the original car has been heavily modified as the petrol engines and all the endothermic architecture have been removed and replaced with modern technology.
The battery modules were spread all over the car between the engine compartment and the boot in order to have balanced weights on the entire front and rear axle. The power steering as well as the heating system and brakes have been modified and powered electrically.
The suspension has been updated as it has been improved to have better support towards the electric motor.
The car can be recharged up to 6.6 Kw and the original dashboard has also been adapted for a modern instrument that indicates the battery charge status.
The car is clearly not homologated but it is estimated that it can have a range of around 210 km. This car is therefore the symbol of a progress that Nissan has made over the years and that has yet to say a lot in the automotive world.
10 million cars have come out of the Sunderland plant and much more will be said from this plant.
The latter will also obtain improvements in order to have full compatibility with the long-term plan Ambition 2030. By this year, in fact, every offer of vehicles linked to the Nissan brand will have an electrified key and innovations will obviously be introduced within 8 years. to revolutionary electrification technologies.
We are all waiting for the introduction of solid state batteries for electric cars that should definitely revolutionize the way we travel and the way to have the ability to dream of a 100% Green world.
