The German automotive house with the four rings presents new versions with supercar acceleration times.
The automotive world never sleeps and especially that of endothermic engines. The performance of the Audi RS has always been synonymous with shivers down the spine when you press the ignition button.
The lucky owners of these cars know very well what we are talking about.
Audi has managed, over the years, to create real four-wheeled monsters, capable of condensing extreme sportiness inside sedans of various sizes.
Now the time has come to present the new Audi RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback performance. Translated into simple words, it is the large station wagon and the Premium Coupé from Audi.
More power and updated equipment for these ultra bad sedans. In Germany they will be available to order from December 8, with a surcharge of around €7,000, compared to the list price of the "traditional" versions.
As soon as we start the engine, we can immediately hear the rumble of the 4-litre TFSI twin-turbo V8. Thanks to engineering work and an increase in supercharging pressure up to 2.6 bar, we have 30 horsepower and 50 newton meters of torque more.
In this way, the acceleration times go from 3.6 seconds to 3.4. A small improvement, but which must however also be related to the entire performance scale.
In combination with the V8 engine structure, there is an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The software has been updated, and therefore allows you to have grafts more suits.
To ensure optimal traction, we have quattro permanent all-wheel drive, famous for being designed by Audi to tackle all kinds of road conditions.
In order to guarantee perfect management of the car, there is also the self-locking central differential, i.e. that part of the transmission which distributes the torque between the drive wheels.
To create an even more adrenaline-pumping situation, the soundproofing in the engine area and the rear end have been reduced. In this way, the total weight has been reduced by 8 kg. Curb weight is now just 2090 kg for the Avant and 2065 kg for the Sportback.
Looking at these cars from the outside, they can be recognized by the large 21-inch 10-spoke wheels. The tires are very wide, measuring 275 for the width and 35 for the shoulder.
For those who want something more, there are 22-inch 5-spoke racing-derived wheels. The latter are available in metallic black, high-sheen or in matt grey, black or gold. In the case of the 22-inch rims, we have 285 wide and 30 shoulder tires.
The Audi engineers have also been very careful in revising the steering calibration, as well as the suspension and differential. We definitely can't say that you don't have fun aboard these cars
The Dynamic package is standard, which allows the maximum speed to be raised from 250 to 280 km. In the same package is the dynamic all-wheel steering and the sport rear differential. To guarantee perfect visibility, there is no shortage of HD LED Matrix headlights.
Upon request, it is possible to have additional packages, starting with Dynamic Plus and Dynamic Race. The first allows you to reach a maximum speed of 305 km per hour and also includes an exhaust system and carbon-ceramic brakes that are over 30 kg lighter.
The second package includes an RS sports suspension with Dynamic Ride Control. Within this package, there is integrated roll and pitch compensation, thanks to steel springs and shock absorbers featuring different settings.
For the lucky owners of these cars, there are as many as 16 different body colors. We remind you that there are exclusive colours, such as Blu Ascari and Rugiada silver.
For those who also want to characterize the interior, there is the RS Blu design package, which outlines some blue finishes.
Two truly extraordinary machines, which are however clearly linked to a few people. The price is very high, but certainly in line with the performance that these two little beauties are able to offer on the road.
