The 510 horsepower sports spider with a canvas roof has finally arrived in our Italian market. Let's find out all the details together.
BMW has further expanded the M4 family with the convertible version. After presenting the sedan and coupe versions, here is the roofless version. For the Touring version we will still have to wait some time.
Remarkably stands out the now famous double comes huge in the front. This double comes is perfect to combine with the extreme disruptive force of this car. BMW has in fact decided not to present a soft version, but only a competition version for the Convertible. This translates into 510 horsepower with M xDrive all-wheel drive.
An important novelty is also related to the roof. In fact, it is not present and it is not possible to have a metal roof, but only in canvas. This could create problems for all those who are more cold and would like to use the car even in the winter months. All in all in our opinion it fits perfectly.
Technically compared to the sedan or coupe version there are no major differences. The front is really identical as we said, with this huge kidney that characterizes it.
The hood is also equipped with very important ribs that outline a truly aggressive front nose. The bumper and air intakes remained identical compared to the Coupé version.
The rear bumper has been modified instead, which has been slightly enlarged. The choice of a canvas roof will surely cause discussion and not a little. We must in fact get out of the conception that the canvas is a technical engineering device of series B. The canvas roof still manages to maintain a milder temperature than in the past. Obviously it is not comparable to perfect insulation like that of a sedan or a coupe.
An important aspect, however, is that the weight is much lower. A soft top is significantly lighter than a metal roof.
In terms of performance, as we have said, the car is only offered with 510 horsepower. There are also different types of power distribution. It is in fact possible to select the rear wheels only, or use the four wheels with the integral version and also add a sportier version of the all-wheel drive.
To push all this power there is a 3-liter 6-cylinder engine with double turbocharging. It is possible to have only a steptronic automatic transmission with 8-speed torque converter.
The acceleration times are truly supercar: it takes just 3.7 sec to reach 100 km per hour. To get the 200 km per hour, it takes just 11.7 seconds. In practice, the time used in 0-100 acceleration for a medium sedan is used to reach 200 km per hour.
Obviously there is no lack of all types of special configurations that allow you to set the car in a fairly personalized way.
This car has a basic starting price of € 113,000 which can obviously be increased depending on a whole series of details and options that can be inserted inside the car.
