The methane power supply is finally available again on the Spanish compact car. With the arrival of the new model, Seat confirms once again a successful union between Leon and methane. Let's find out the details together.

Seat has decided to renew the Leon in 2020 and has recently placed the version equipped with methane fuel on the market. The engine is the same as the one we found in the previous model. In fact we always have the 1.5 liter TGI and 3 natural gas tanks . All this allows you to have a range of 440 km according to what was declared by the Spanish car manufacturer. The engine is capable of delivering 130 horsepower and 200 Newton meters of torque. The car immediately clicks immediately at low revs thanks to the abundant torque immediately available.

The car is equipped with a methane fuel, but also a small availability of petrol. In fact, a second 9-liter tank is available in case the methane is finished and there are no distributors in the immediate vicinity.

Consumption is really minimal and in fact, according to what was declared by the tests, a consumption of between 3.9 and 4.3 kg of natural gas per 100 km is expected.

For lovers of technical data, the engine has an innovative Miller combustion process with a high compression ratio of 12.5, in order to increase efficiency and reduce polluting emissions.

Buying a methane car means buying a car that is environmentally conscious and at the same time attentive to the wallet. In fact, CO2 emissions are about 25% less than the same petrol engine. Clearly, driving a methane car is much cheaper than a petrol car. In fact, the various studies state that the savings are around 50 or 60% compared to a petrol car of the same size and performance.

Going back to our beloved Seat Leon, we could have three different trim levels. We start from the Style version, to move on to Xcellence and finally to the FR.

All versions will be equipped with the Seat Digital Cockpit , that is the digital display that takes the place of the traditional analog tachometer and odometer.

With a top speed of 203 km / h, the Seat Leon goes into production this week for methane fueling and will be available in dealerships in the coming weeks.

It is currently in production with the DSG automatic transmission, but will also be available soon with the manual transmission and also in the more family version. Seat Leon in fact will arrive in the Sporttourer version also with availability of methane fuel, both with the manual gearbox and with the DSG automatic gearbox.

The methane-fueled Seat Leon sales figures so far have been very encouraging for the Spanish carmaker and therefore allow us to see the future with a good eye. At a time when everyone is focusing on the electric and the form of electrification of the cars, Seat continues its battle to position a methane car within the international automotive schedule.

We will see if once again the methane Seat Leon will be able to conquer important market shares within a restricted segment such as that of methane which is now only to the detriment of the Volkswagen group with the various Audi, Seat and Skoda.
