With the arrival of the new CEO De Meo, Renault is cleaning up all major models and expects increasingly interesting launches of future cars. One of all, or rather the flagship car, could be the Renault 5 in the new millennium.

Anyone who has lived through the 70s certainly cannot fail to remember the legendary Renault 5. It is a car that truly left the hearts of tortured enthusiasts the moment it left production. The # Renault 5 is not simply a good exercise in automotive style, but a real way of experiencing the road. It is in fact comparable to a Fiat 500, Fiat Panda, the 2 horsepower, the Beetle and so on.

He had a look that was really alluring and it was impossible not to love. Now, in 2021, more than three decades after the start of this splendid reality, the prototype of the new R5 is presented.

As soon as you look at it you can clearly see how the designers took the designs of the old R5 from the 70s and completely refurbished it. The 1972 model has been revised in a modern key without going to deny that unmistakable aspect. We have not fallen into the retro choice, but the DNA has certainly not been denied . The headlights are unequivocally taken from the original version.

Clearly, if the two cars were compared, one to the other, one would immediately notice the enormous difference and the enormous work that has been done by the designers.

Although the headlights are completely different in terms of proportion and design, the rectangular shape is absolutely noticeable and clear. On closer inspection, the headlights of the new Renault 5 prototype feature some details that seem to make the car laugh. Looking at the grille, it also appears that the headlights are slightly ajar, also thanks to the lower lid that has been incorporated in terms of design.

Still looking at it from the front, you can see the important work of the bumper which in 1972 was decidedly more minimal and less elaborate.

Going into detail, the modern R5 includes headlights with LED Matrix technology , which allow you to make a series of really nice animations. One of them is the welcome signal , which develops by illuminating the vehicle logo with an animation that extends to the grille. The headlights also come to life, as if the vehicle is blinking. A form of wink that Renault wanted to give to all fans and to all those who, if this technology were confirmed, will have in the purchase of the car.

To launch the car, a very charged color was chosen. We are talking about a bright yellow , not too declined in bright shades but which is certainly excellent in terms of liveliness. It is Renault yellow, the perfect cross between sportiness and everyday life.

We still don't know if this car will be completely revived on the road exactly as we saw the prototype. In terms of lines, the latter have been very updated and are not too extreme or too far from what this car could be in everyday life.

The wheel arches are also slightly rounded, but not excessively. Some technologies, present on the prototype, are already present in the current cars, such as the minimal mirrors and the absence of the handle for the front door.

Ultimately, our hope is to see exactly the Renault 5 prototype, on our roads as soon as possible.
