Characteristics
Ford presents the new Mustang California Special in Europe, the perfect icon that instantly reminds you of the 1968 car. Thanks to unique design details, with Color Shift decals, love is immediate.
This car perfectly embodies the style par excellence of the west coast of the United States.
For the first time we will be able to admire, live, this beautiful combination of unique designs and colors. The spirit is the original 1968 one, obtainable only in the convertible version with folding top and a classic look for outdoor emotions. It will also be possible to have a Special Edition design package with exclusive badges and details. We refer in particular to the 19-inch alloy wheels and special California Special decals.
This car was designed to be used every day of the year and in any weather condition. The fun on the road, for Ford, is not afraid of bad weather. Standard comfort technologies therefore include heated and cooled front seats, as well as a customizable 12-inch instrument cluster.
Advanced connectivity allows the driver to remain absolutely alert on the road and listen to their audio tracks for beautiful road trips. This car is an important heir to the first Mustang presented 50 years ago and symbolizes the joy of driving and the freedom to drive without worries. All those who are passionate about Mustangs must, therefore, at least visit the Ford showrooms to be able to admire this manufacturing excellence live.
The first version of the Ford Mustang was born in 1964, but the California Special was released only 4 years later. Made in a limited number of specimens, it had unique characteristics. What we are about to see live now is a reinterpretation of that style with homage to the US style. The folding convertible top is, in fact, made with the famous Mediterranean climate of the Golden state in mind.
There are, of course, some interesting details such as the honeycomb front grille, finished in black and characterized by a red badge. The lower side stripes feature black, red and gray textures. Like the original version, the improvements suggest significant engine performance, with a larger front splitter and optional rear side air intakes.
At the rear of the car we find a California Special-style filler cap. The alloy wheels are exclusive 5-spoke and this allows for a high level of exclusivity. Tire sizes differ between the front and rear axles, with rims finished in charred gray.
This car can be purchased in 9 colors, ranging from blue to orange with a contrasting black roof that folds down in just 8 seconds. As we said before, the front seats are heated and cooled as standard, helping the occupants to be comfortable with the roof down in summer or winter.
The seats are also partially finished with fine gray leathers as well as an ecological synthetic material, made from recycled polyester.
The engines
In terms of powertrain, this car has a 5-liter # V8 engine with 450 horsepower and 529 Newtonmeter of torque under the hood. Thanks to the combination with a Ford six-speed manual gearbox, it is possible to reach 100 km / h in just 4.8 seconds. It should be noted that for the version with 10-speed automatic transmission, the acceleration time is lowered to 4.5 seconds.
Automatic traction further optimizes performance, also depending on the type of driving selected. In fact, the Normal, Sport, Track and Snow / Wet modes can be selected, thus offering an optimal driving experience in every situation.
Traction and cornering grip are high-performance as there is a standard limited-slip differential and a specially designed suspension system.
The electronics check the condition of the road surface 1000 times per second and use an electronically controlled fluid to adapt the damping resistance to the type of driving.
The golden color conveys a sense of joy to the eyes and charm in the open air . Obviously this version is only available in a convertible configuration and this, in our opinion, is certainly a positive aspect as it manages to perfectly intercept all the beauties of an open-air drive.
In fact, if we close our eyes, we can immediately imagine this car driving the roads along the Pacific Ocean in San Francisco. No information was released regarding the cost and the concrete arrival on the road. We therefore recommend that you go to any Ford Italy dealer to get more information and to book the arrival of the first examples of this beautiful car in Italy.
