The house of the German star wants to pay more attention to ingenious and simple solutions that can make it possible to give important help to all those who live within urban areas.
The future of our planet is concentrated within urban areas. For this reason Mercedes and various international two and four-wheel players are trying to understand how to develop more sustainable mobility on a human scale.
The German company wanted to create in 2019 a division that aims to make cities as livable as possible through safe and sustainable mobility solutions.
To do this, the team that makes up this division is confronted daily with international institutions and transport companies in order to better understand a widespread reality.
In fact, Mercedes' goal is to create a global set of data-driven mobility products and solutions centered on the real needs of cities. This is how the electric scooter intersects with the vans and other products of the Mercedes group.
The city of the future will be as smart as it is and as much focused on sharing means as possible. Cities will be more crowded and it is precisely for this reason that Mercedes is trying to understand how it will be possible not to congest the traffic but to allow everyone to move in total freedom.
The exchange of information is therefore fundamental in order to also understand the number of daily journeys of people and the various movements. In fact, traffic must be fluid and efficient without obviously affecting people's privacy.
In fact, an important issue is the optimization of traffic flows in terms of real time. For this reason it will be essential to create interactions solutions between cars and between cars and infrastructure in order to optimally flow the cars in the event of traffic jams.
Currently this division Mercedes is working on some data-based mobility products such as improving traffic safety or optimizing car flows. Secondly, a subsequent area of competence of the Mercedes division is to support cities in order to transform themselves into managing bodies of holistic mobility for the mobility of tomorrow. The third macro-area of competence is that relating to the definition of vehicles optimized for the city, which therefore allow the needs of individuals to be fully satisfied.
Obviously, among the first cities to be interested, we have London. In this area, a digital tool has been developed that identifies the highest risk positions before an accident occurs. In this way, city traffic managers can make decisions and change mobility even instantly.
In addition to London we also have the city of Stuttgart, within which a project has been developed in the largest commercial area of the city. In this area it is possible to manage a fleet of public transport vehicles through an app, perfectly integrated with the local public transport system.
The Mercedes division is also full of new designs especially within the German territory. For example, a fully automated parking and charging valet system with autonomous driving even at level 4 is active in the coming years.
We are truly facing the epochal turning point in the way we human beings move. It is difficult to explain the full potential of the mobility of the future, but we can't wait to be able to savor them in the coming years.
