Driving on the motorway with 30 ° or 0 ° is not the same thing. Therefore, the Highway Code establishes certain rules that must be respected in order to be able to circulate freely without incurring penalties and also be serene in the fact of having a car adhering to the road surface.
As we can all imagine, a car has a different reaction on the road surface depending on whether the rubber is able to adhere perfectly or not.
In fact, if it fails to adhere perfectly, the car can encounter unpleasant and complicated situations to manage. So we have to remember to change winter tires as soon as possible in October.
According to the Directive of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport of January 16, 2013 from November 15 to April 15, motorists must change tires in order to be able to circulate freely on all roads where winter tires are formally required.
In some roads, a variation of the dates of the period is also allowed precisely because it depends on the positioning of the road if it is in a location subject to frost already in these days.
In fact, there is a derogation that can go up to 15 October or even 15 May as a maximum extension of this situation.
The obligation applies to all four-wheeled vehicles or cars, trucks and heavy vehicles. They do not apply to mopeds and to the two altitudes which, however, cannot circulate in case of snow or ice on the road.
In the event that we decide not to change summer tires with winter ones, let's remember that we can always buy snow chains to be able to install them in the event of a snowfall.
Otherwise we forget to buy snow chains and decide to ride peacefully with summer tires, be careful that we can incur important penalties. In the inhabited centers it ranges from a minimum of € 41 up to a maximum of € 168. If we are outside the town, the fine starts from € 80 and goes up to € 335.
Obviously it is advisable to mount all four winter tires in order to have homogeneous behavior in the car without going to make the trajectory in the front or rear axle broken down.
We can recognize winter tires thanks to the inclusion by the wheel manufacturers of the M + S marking, or Mud and Snow in English.
It is also possible to have the identification of the winter tire thanks to the snowflake and mountain icon that is positioned next to the snowflake. A winter tire is certainly an important expense but it is nevertheless something unique and irreplaceable in terms of road safety.
In fact, if we can decide to buy a whole series of other options, let's remember that summer tires and winter tires allow us to continue to travel peacefully.
