The car manufacturer is also very present in the truck world and has defined the main goal for the coming years, namely the zero level with regard to CO2 emissions by 2050.

When we talk about electrification, we are not simply referring to the automotive world of “traditional” four wheels. Much is frying in the pot for the bison of the streets, that is, for the trucks.

In fact, Mercedes-Benz has its own program to achieve CO2-neutral road transport by 2050.

Taking advantage of the objectives defined by the Paris climate agreement, Mercedes presents new electrified vehicles. In fact, Mercedes' desire is that by 2030 the number of electric trucks in Europe will be higher than that of non-electric trucks.

This is stated by a member of the Daimler board of directors responsible for the truck sector. On the occasion of the “ Shaping the Now & Next 2021 ” event, it is recalled that obviously there are no unique solutions within the automotive world, nor better solutions than others.

For this reason, Mercedes continues its strategy of diversifying technological progress in the field of battery electric traction, but also hydrogen traction.

In both cases, there is still a lot to do for the Daimler board member. Mercedes has already presented its Actros in the electric version in the past, which is perfect for long-haul distribution service.

As regards the municipal buildings and services, a vehicle called eEconic is being completed, which will be ready and functioning in the second half of 2022. The latter vehicle is in fact about to be completed according to an aspect of the research, but must be still undergoing practical testing with customers.

I see that the Daimler technology declined to the eActros has been optimal, certainly there will be no major problems for the more compact version, declined for the market and for municipal use.

Mercedes, however, does not stop and proposes for 2024 a more important version in terms of size of its eActros LongHaul. A short time later, in 2027, the new trucks powered by hydrogen-based fuel cells will be stably built.

From 2027, therefore, Mercedes-Benz will have in the field a whole series of vehicles perfect for long-haul transport which will then be declined and conveyed on the short-haul vehicles that we have just seen.

An articulated project that places Mercedes at the center of the electric drive revolution, not only in terms of four-wheel mobility. Although it may seem like a long six years to wait, surely time will pass very quickly and we could find ourselves in front of splendid Mercedes vehicles that will be able to transport goods very quickly to every corner of Italy by simply using CO2-free energy sources.
