The Italian government decided to increase the amounts relating to incentives by 50%, for certain income brackets.

In the midst of our hot summer 2022, the Italian government has decided to put its hand to the wallet.

A decision by the Italian government, in order to help the less well-off classes, and try to get closer to the ecological transition.

Electric cars will certainly be the present in many years, but even today they are really very expensive to buy. In fact, several thousand euros are needed in order to purchase a plug-in or electric car.

Here is why the Italian government has decided to put its hand to the portfolio and help the less well-off classes. In fact, in the Automotive panorama there are different types of electric cars, within different price ranges.

Clearly we all know Tesla, and his power in terms of appeal. Buying a Tesla, however, is definitely not cheap, and therefore many people cannot afford it.

There are other cars, but they are definitely within anyone's reach. Certainly the technology is not as powerful as Tesla, but this is a secondary aspect.

Volkswagen has several electric cars, from the small compact for the city to the large sporty SUV. Clearly other cars are also present in the Automotive market with electric drive only, and Volkswagen is a case in point.

However, considering the incentives for the purchase of a new car, which have already been paid this year, we can say that there were positives and negatives.

The incentives for mid-range cars, ie between 61 and 135 grams per kilometer of CO2, have certainly been very successful. They sold out in a few days, and the merit is linked to the fact that many cars fall within the price range.

A failure, on the other hand, was electric cars or cars with CO2 emissions below 60 grams per km. We are talking about the more expensive electric or plug-in hybrid cars, for which the funds are still very well available.

Here is how it is necessary to make corrections in order to make people benefit from these incentives. In fact, if this aspect were not corrected, these loans would probably not be attributed to anyone, and this would be a waste of money.

Hence the need to make corrections to try to expand the further audience of possible beneficiaries. The idea is to give more support to families with economic difficulties.

Those who have an annual income of less than € 30,000 can benefit from a 50% increase in the contribution provided for the car.

It therefore goes from € 5,000 up to € 7,500 in case you want to scrap a car up to Euro 4, as long as it is an electric car. Overall, however, even if the car was slightly polluting, but with emissions below 60 grams per kilometer of CO2, we still reach € 3000, in case we cannot / want to scrap a vehicle.

An important novelty is also linked to that of granting benefits for people who opt for car rental. This is a very common solution that allows you to spend a lower amount than buying a car, and not go through a whole long-term car management process.

This rule is linked to legal entities that rent cars, as long as they keep them for at least 12 months. This rule is interesting as it wants to renew the car fleet quickly, without being binding in the long term.

Legal entities clearly have benefits in taking new cars home and this footnote presented by the Government aims to position new cars within the Automotive market as quickly as possible.

We will see how the Automotive market will receive this novelty, and in how many days the incentives will run out.
